Febuary 2007
Big sigh of relief: applications in. Minor heart-attack and a few shots of tequila: they're taking 95% of my liquid assets. (Assuming I get in, of course.)
Early Feb Boy and I celebrated early-Valentine's Day, around-the-corner-Opening Night, and cross-my-fingers-Application Submission with dinner at Blue Hill. The Chef had seen ITH and attempted to one-up Boy's art by wow-ing us with his own art: 13 to-die-for dishes over 3 hours. The food may as well have had sex with us. It was that good.A few days later, ITH opened. It was everything you expect of an Opening Night: high energy audiance and performance; fancy dresses; limos (courtesy of Boy's Dad); press line; big party, this one with a live salsa band and Boy DJing whenever he could. He was on cloud-nine. The reviews were and continue to be wonderful. He wore my present.
After self-exile while applying to schools, Feb was, ahem, "Social Hours": One High Tea at the St. Regis Hotel. One cute musical in Williamsburg. One day off work with Boy. One sleepover party with MIT girls. One MosDef concert at BAM with Goldylox. One 3-hour card game of Shanghai - which is to Rummy 500 what Spades is to Hearts. One home-cooked dinner with Niss. One visit from JuddK. And a well-deserved ever-lasting cold! (Sleep?!)
